[06:51]<+Mulreay> Fallout: New Vegas... never a buggier game was there
[06:51]<@BC_Programming> cheetahmen
[06:52]<+Mulreay> Huh?
[06:52]<@BC_Programming> a buggier game
[06:52]<+Mulreay> ahh ok, never heard of it
[06:52]<@BC_Programming> by like seventy bajillion times
[06:52]<@BC_Programming> it's not even finishable
[06:52]<+Mulreay> I was just making a point of the general bugginess that surrounds this game
[06:53]<+Mulreay> I did just manage a 2hr stint with no crashes... now it's just crashed again
[06:53]<+Mulreay> It's my own fault for walking
[06:54]<@BC_Programming> also... it's not even close to that bad on the PC.
[06:54]<@BC_Programming> that seems to be rather common, though, for games that are basically designed to run on several platforms, the console versions always seem to have a lot of problems
[06:54]<+Mulreay> Only been one update on the ps3 for it, to be fair it has helped.. it was worse than this in London before I could get the update
[06:55]<@BC_Programming> honestly, I don't like the entire concept of game updates for a console game, because, if you think about it, it just means the developers will be lazier
[06:55]<+Mulreay> very true
[06:55]<@BC_Programming> like "oh, we don't have to fix that <now> we can just release an update later"
[06:56]<+Mulreay> indeed..
[06:56]<@BC_Programming> which sort of seems to be the case here... I mean, how could they NOT notice it crashing/hanging frequently? Unless they never bothered to actually test it...
[06:57]<+Mulreay> it's like now, just encountered another bug... I've been to the 'Great Khans encampment' as I'm in the middle of a quest for them.. but now on the pip boy it says I have not discovered them so I will have to walk back
[06:58]<+Mulreay> highly annoying
[06:58]<@BC_Programming> that's not really a bug, you just didn't happen to walk in the right area... although that's a little strange in and of itself
[06:58]<@BC_Programming> I think I had a similar problem since I had to go back and walk around until it said I discovered it
[06:59]<+Mulreay> No I've been there and spoke to Papa so I HAD to be in the camp..
[06:59]<@BC_Programming> so had I
[06:59]<+Mulreay> well I'm close now so will see where the boundry is
[07:01]<+Mulreay> Nah that's balls. Half way down the red-canyon towards the camp you descover the place.. has to be a bug
[07:02]<@BC_Programming> well, if your game crashed it takes you back to your last save... or did you still have their quest active?
[07:02]<+Mulreay> Still active
[07:02]<@BC_Programming> oh ok then
[07:04]<+Mulreay> Still an awesome game don't get me wrong
[07:05]<@BC_Programming> I haven't played it in awhile myself
[07:08]<+Mulreay> I like games like this.. where you can generate your charachter as you choose and it's a very long game
[07:09]<@BC_Programming> when you get your new build you can get the PC version, which in my experience is usually pretty stable
[07:10]<+Mulreay> yeah
[07:10]<@BC_Programming> although it's odd that it would be, since with the PC it could have pretty much any hardware, and yet with the consoles they knew exactly what hardware they would have to work with
[07:11]<+Mulreay> yeah it's a strange one
[07:13]<+Mulreay> Ooh forgot to say, I was exchanging some messages with Robert Llewellyn aka (Kryten) about his new show on twitter. He says there in talks about making a new season of Red Dwarf which would be awesome
[07:14]<@BC_Programming> wow, that would be awesome

[07:48]<+Mulreay> without the stars of course
[07:49]<GlitchPC> it's already registered
[07:49]<+Mulreay> We have all been making sure there is either a bot or a person in here to protect the channel
[07:49]<+Mulreay> to whome?
[07:49]<+Mulreay> mmm
[07:49]<GlitchPC> dunno
[07:50]<+Mulreay> Will have to speak to pottsi when he'saround to sort it out
[07:51]<+Mulreay> May be somebody like jacky or BC_Programming owned the channel to protect it
[07:51]<+Mulreay> well actually they can't have
[07:51]<GlitchPC> possible...only an owner can give out owner status
[07:52]<+Mulreay> Pottsi can sort it out he's mibbit staff

[07:55]<GlitchPC> We lost so much
[07:56]<GlitchPC> It will be great to see the site come back and flourish...under different ownership of course

[08:00]<GlitchPC> What's the site?
[08:00]<+camerongray> I liked VB - The site looked good
[08:00]<GlitchPC> glitchpc.net...or .com?
[08:00]<+camerongray> It's at glitchpc.net but the nameservers need changed so you'll need it in your hosts file
[08:00]<+Mulreay> .com was taken by someone else :(
[08:00]<+camerongray> I'll get the IP
[08:01]<+camerongray> Yeh, one of those - "This domain is for sale" things

[08:15]<+camerongray> Why does Minecraft insist on putting one core up to full usage -- grrr
[08:16]<+camerongray> And why on earth does it need > 500mb RAM
[08:16]<GlitchPC> got me swingin"
[08:17]<+Mulreay> You could always try setting the affinity to one core, but not sure how that would help
[08:18]<+camerongray> It's using one core at the moment
[08:18]<+Mulreay> mmm
[08:18]<+Mulreay> What is your affinity set to?
[08:18]<+camerongray> I have to use my desktop as my laptop's fans go into hyperdrive
[08:18]<+Mulreay> Works fine on this laptop
[08:18]<+camerongray> Might be something with Windows 7
[08:18]<+Mulreay> not that me telling you that helps.. sorry
[08:19]<+camerongray> It works fine - Just odd as why it uses so much CPU
[08:19]<+Mulreay> It's quite a big game
[08:21]<+camerongray> I suppose - Even though the graphics aren't lifelike doesn't mean that they are light on the hardware
[08:21]<+Mulreay> indeed

[08:55]<+camerongray> Steve is back! :D :D :D
[09:01]<+Mulreay> Yeah cool
[09:03]<@BC_Programming> hmm seem to have missed steve
[09:03]<@BC_Programming> curse my console games being in a completely different room
[09:08]<@BC_Programming> Re: Minecraft Memory usage; consider that the game loads- I believe- 81 chunks around the player, each chunk is 16x16 and is 128 high, so that's 32,768 blocks per chunk, meaning the 81 near chunks amount to a total of 2,654,208 blocks
[09:09]<@BC_Programming> each block no doubt takes up about 50 bytes at least, for type, damage, opacity, etc
[09:10]<@BC_Programming> and then there is of course the various other classes that will have been instantiated for the various mobs and entities, water and lava flow, processing of light- and it is all in java so a class instance's memory would have to wait to be reclaimed by the garbage collector even after it has been disposed
[09:11]<+Mulreay> I was about to say that...
[09:11]<@BC_Programming> heh
[09:12]<@BC_Programming> don't know about the CPU usage, but I would imagine that is a result of it using the CPU, and all of that
[09:12]<+Mulreay> of course
[09:13]<@BC_Programming> http://blogs.msdn.com/b/oldnewthing/archive/2010/12/03/10097861.aspx
[09:13]<@BC_Programming> "For some reason, people treat a program consuming 100% CPU as if it were unrepentantly running around kicking defenseless (and cute) puppies."
[09:14]<+Mulreay> lol
[09:14]<+Mulreay> or running into there houses and peeing on there kids
[09:15]<@BC_Programming> that blog is a good read on this non-existent
[09:15]<@BC_Programming> issue
[09:17]<@BC_Programming> although to be fair it really shouldn't be gobbling up as much CPU time as it does when it is minimized... though I think it is actually doing something then
[09:18]<+Mulreay> yes, pee'ing on your kids
[09:19]<@BC_Programming> no I mean it saves for a while... then it seems to go down to 4-5% usage
[09:19]<@BC_Programming> at least for me it does
[09:19]<@BC_Programming> that saving thing is annoying, it saves all the bloody time, so you can't end it's process and go back to your "last save"
[09:19]<@BC_Programming> because when you die
[09:19]<@BC_Programming> it saves
[09:19]<@BC_Programming> how helpful
[09:24]<@BC_Programming> hmm... interesting, with a few tweaks I was able to use my movingblock stuff and make a gravity block move around the playing area in BASeBlock
[09:24]<+Mulreay> Yeah not a fan of the auto saves..
[09:25]<@BC_Programming> I particularly like how the gravity affects the balls that are used for explosions, so they travel in an arc or something and their little particle emissions draw a nice curve
[09:26]<+camerongray> I really should get into game development more
[09:33]<+Mulreay> As should we all
[09:34]<@BC_Programming> I made my splash screen also my about box
[09:34]<@BC_Programming> yay
[09:34]<+Mulreay> All we need is an artist.. (mmm) a team of developers and a BC_Programming/Carmack figure to write the engine
[09:35]<+Mulreay> Then we can have a film made about us like 'social network' called 'mmm really'
[09:36]<@BC_Programming> what's "social network"?
[09:37]<+Mulreay> About 'facefook
[09:37]<@BC_Programming> o
[09:46]<@BC_Programming> oh dear I may have just stepped on a slipper slope
[09:46]<@BC_Programming> slippery
[09:46]<@BC_Programming> I used a goto to workaround an issue
[09:49]<@BC_Programming> ... wonder if I have that really old Flash frogger game I made lying around
[09:49]<+Mulreay> I'm having a sneezing fit, 8 so far... had to re-type stuff in this sentence lots
[09:49]<@BC_Programming> heh
[09:49]<@BC_Programming> I shall find my ancient CDs from years gone by, who knows what they may contain
[09:49]<@BC_Programming> I am searching for TREASURE
[09:50]<+Mulreay> where?
[09:50]<@BC_Programming> on CDs, old forgotten projects
[09:51]<@BC_Programming> well not forgotten, since I remember them when I think really hard
[09:51]<@BC_Programming> like, my chess game.. .AFAIK that is gone forever :'(
[09:51]<@BC_Programming> I couldn't beat it at the game... of course I suck at chess so that hardly counts
[09:54]<@BC_Programming> I found one of my ancient archive disks
[09:54]<@BC_Programming> oh man it's in bad shape
[09:54]<+Mulreay> Yeah I remeber us talking about chess.. I'm fairly good
[09:54]<+Mulreay> remember*
[09:54]<@BC_Programming> I can't even beat "chess titans" that comes with windows on easy
[09:59]<+Mulreay> We should have a game at some point, not to beat you down but to give you pointers.. chess is the game of kings
[10:01]<+Mulreay> Gonna do another 'lets play'vid in a bit
[10:02]<@BC_Programming> cool

[10:12]<@BC_Programming> Mulreay: I'll try to remember when you are finished :P

[10:12]<+Mulreay> Beeps are always disabled
[10:13]<@BC_Programming> they started to piss me off... mostly because it goes with the generic "beep" rather then something more unique, and I was too lazy to find a special sound for it
[10:13]<+Mulreay> Oh damn, I have entered a world of pain... windows will crash soon if I try to do somwthing..
[10:14]<+Mulreay> Yawn.. it's getting old Mr Bill Gates
[10:14]<@BC_Programming> what happened
[10:17]<+Mulreay> I'm trying to cancel a file transfer from the internal to the external... the transfer seems to have stalled at 5secs left and now I try to cancel and I have a rather nice box telling me lies about it cancelling.. I know for a fact if I click on the box it will say Explorer has stopped working and no matter what I do it will crash everything and I will have to restart.. maybe I could do the
[10:17]<+Mulreay> video without bothering it
[10:18]<@BC_Programming> if explorer crashes usually you can just restart it and get the taskbar back using task manager
[10:19]<+Mulreay> Yeah I love it when it does that but for me it tends to still hang and wave at me like some cross-loved pedophile
[10:19]<@BC_Programming> curious
[10:19]<+Mulreay> OK will have to just click the button to see what happens
[10:20]<@BC_Programming> I'll cross my fingers for u

[12:25]<+pottsi> mhmm
[12:27]<Serpent> no.
[12:27]<Tux2> lol
[12:27]<Tux2> I guess I missed mulreay
[12:29]<@BC_Programming> OK is there not an easier way to just make a bloody playlist of all the videos by a single account on youtube
[12:29]<@BC_Programming> because I've been sitting here clicking "more" just trying to find the first one here
[12:29]<@BC_Programming> and it's rather starting to piss me off after 30 minutes
[12:32]<Tux2> dunno BC_Programming... put in a feature request to google...
[12:32]<@BC_Programming> it's not a "feature" it's a base level of functionality that they should have supported from the beginning
[12:33]<@BC_Programming> if I have to tell them that then I may as well start sending them reminders to brush their teeth and change their clothes... that's how obvious it is.... I mean I've now been trying to page through CGR empires videos for a good 40 minutes- click more... scroll down... click more again
[12:33]<@BC_Programming> why can't they just give a GOD DAMNED LIST of the flipping videos all at once
[12:33]<@BC_Programming> this load more nonsense makes me want to punch puppies
[12:37]<Tux2> you've got to realize that people who have slower internet can't load 400 videos on one page without it taking forever...
[12:38]<@BC_Programming> they can't load 400 video LINKS on the same page? and there is this thing called "detecting connection speed" that has been around for a good 20 years
[12:38]<Tux2> lol, yup
[12:39]<@BC_Programming> just a bunch of titles and links... or hell, an easy way to find playlists, because it looks like they have already made a playlist for their videos, I just can't get the bloody thing without searching youtube
[12:40]<@BC_Programming> yay found a playlist... still that was annoying
[12:40]<@BC_Programming> on a separate note, am I the only person who doesn't intuitively know which button is which on a playstation controller
[12:41]<@BC_Programming> somebody says "press triangle" and I have to look at the controller
[12:41]<Tux2> lol, same here...
[12:41]<@BC_Programming> or they say "press X"
[12:41]<@BC_Programming> and I'm like... OH! you mean, Press B... ok
[12:41]<@BC_Programming> heh
[12:41]<Tux2> Well, I know where X is, but that is about it...
[12:43]<@BC_Programming> yeah but when somebody gives me instructions they go on like this is all basic stuff we all know out of the womb
[12:43]<@BC_Programming> "hurry press square! hurry!"
[12:43]<@BC_Programming> just let me find square here..."
[12:44]<@BC_Programming> of course, turns out when they have to play SNES the roles are reversed, mwa haha

[16:13]<Tux2> lol

[16:14]<@BC_Programming> what do you mean?
[16:14]<@BC_Programming> oh I also complained for quite awhile about the name of the gamecube
[16:14]<@BC_Programming> I mean, they call it a gamecube, but it is clearly a rectangular prism
